I was born in Sapporo, Japan. After marrying my husband, I moved to Dearborn, Michigan where I was a marketing representative for various American and Japanese companies in the automotive industry. After moving to South Carolina, I became an interpreter for an aircraft manufacturer.
In Charleston, I started taking watercolor painting classes in a local adult education course. Since then, my dormant talent has awakened and I have begun to study art in earnest.
My memory of art in my early age goes back to kindergarten, where I remember coloring a spider web in a notebook. When I was in 4th grade, I drew a classmate’s face in pencil, but ruined it with watercolor. During 5th grade, my parents took me to see an exhibition of Renoir in Tokyo. I still remember the beautiful skin tones of the women in his paintings.
I did not plan to be an artist. However, drawing, and painting still life and portraits came to me naturally. At first I did not realize it was a great gift, but now I am so grateful that I have artwork to share with others.
My art is a manifestation of my personal quality. My inner god is happy when I paint like a little child showing her discovery of new things in the world. A miracle happens while I paint: I become attuned to the Universe. I am aiming high to create arts that love and harmony exist.
